The Smart board is hard to see because of lighting of the project and the location of the video camera. The presentation was intended for first graders and consists of matching game and a pronoun video. The video was the Schoolhouse Rock pronoun video.
For the game I created and locked word bubbles with locked noun in the bubble. The nouns were colored. The students had to move the black colored pronouns (with the pen) to the bubble with noun the pronoun could place.
The activity was enjoyable and students went wild when they got to come and use the pen on the smart board. The locking feature is great and insures that your presentation can be kept in order, especially since the students were coming up and moving certain items around. One inconvenience was the text edit option. When the students were trying to move the pronouns to the word bubble the boxes for editing the pictures or text would become highlighted. Either the screen should be less sensitive with the pen or there should be a way to go into presentation mode and not have the text or picture boxes able to be highlighted.
The board being used was Eno board. I prefer this board to other boards as you use dry erase markers on board when the board is not in use. It is magnetic so you can place items on the screen. Finally, the board comes with magnetic, removable operation kit that you can cut up and put on clipboard. This allows you to turn pages and control mouse/pen setting and screen setting from various places in the classroom.
One problem with Eno board is the pen. The pen is very sensitive and tip is a thinner plastic. If you have an aggressive or super amped student they could bend the tip of the pen. Second the pen has a small rubber o-ring which when pushed into the cap of the pen signifies the pen is off and saves the battery of the pen. The rubber o-ring is easily removed and something the young students love to play with and loose.
The program used was Smartboard Notebook 10.8. I found this very similar to easiteach, however smartboard has more down loadable or premade presentations you can modify.
